I rather think he exaggerates. Driving to a tournament can be more stressful than the game itself, where you can just cut yourself off and play with confidence.

It all adds up doesn't it? The travelling, the playing, the faffing around trying to get lunch or meals at a hopefully half-decent hotel.

As for exaggeration, why do you think this?

I don't know how much experience you have of an international tournament, but it is quite tiring to me.

I knew the Uzbek player (from the ICCD team), though not well, and it was a shock to hear the news. It must be an awful time for the families of the players and the team-mates that may have had to deal with contacting the families and the embassies (and in the case of the Seychelles player, family members were present in the playing hall and on the same team). It is sad in many ways that the news media run with stories like this. I suppose it was always a forlorn hope that the media would ascertain the age of both players (67 and 45) and wait for official confirmation of the causes of the deaths. Anyway, my thoughts are with the families and friends of those who died.
