London Chess Classic FIDE Open
There doesn't yet seem to be a thread for this.
Notwithstanding CSC being a stronghold of the "anti-nexus", look who are the declared arbiters for this event.

I note that the Arbiting team doesn't seem to include any of the 'old guard' who resist the use of computerised pairings. It is also interesting that none of them appear to hold the title of ECF Senior Arbiter.Roger de Coverly wrote:

It is surprising that a CSC senior manager isn't listed as Organiser. Perhaps, none hold the necessary FIDE International Organiser title.
Alex H is both Organiser and Chief Arbiter.

There is a more comprehensive list on the FIDE rating server:Roger de Coverly wrote:There doesn't yet seem to be a thread for this.

It is inadvisable for the CA and CO to be the same person in a serious FIDE rated event as it makes fulfilment of the FIDE Competition Rules difficult. eg. section 10 and an appeal by a player against a CA decision.

Lawrence,
Your links to the FIDE site don't seem to work.
I was wrong as the main event, the 7th London Classic, has Malcolm Pein as Organiser, Albert Vasse IA as Chief Arbiter and David Sedgwick IA as Deputy Arbiter. It is a Round Robin so computer pairing is not an issue.

That was my original thought but it might simply have been an expedient to be able to register the various different competitions with FIDE.E Michael White wrote:It is inadvisable for the CA and CO to be the same person in a serious FIDE rated event as it makes fulfilment of the FIDE Competition Rules difficult. eg. section 10 and an appeal by a player against a CA decision.

In practice, the vastly experienced officials of the London Classic main event will be available to consult.

They still work for me but if you are having problems try this link: https://ratings.fide.com/tournament_list.phtml select "England" from the drop down menu and then click on the appropriate London Chess Classic event "Inf."Michael Flatt wrote:Lawrence,

Thanks, Lawrence. That works.
The event information given by FIDE shows the Arbiting team to be much larger than indicated on chess-results.com which only lists the principal officials.

For about the first time ever, I've been sent a ticket for entry to a chess tournament. Am I expected to bring it with me for the first round on Friday? I'm offered the option of downloading it to a phone, but what are the rules on possession of phones going to be?

Presumably the ticket is just an automatic consequence of entries being processed through a booking agency. As a player you won't really need it although no harm in taking it along. They give out player passes to everyone which gives you access to the main tournament and commentary room (assuming not overwhelmed by paying spectators). Don't know specific regulations on phones, but there's a free cloakroom for bags and coats anyway.Roger de Coverly wrote:For about the first time ever, I've been sent a ticket for entry to a chess tournament. Hidden away on one of the pages of the London Classic site it says:Richard Bates wrote:Presumably the ticket is just an automatic consequence of entries being processed through a booking agency. "Watching the London Chess Classic: All competitors will have access to the Auditorium and Commentary room free of charge only if space permits and after tickets have been sold on the day. To guarantee access at the weekend, tournament entrants should purchase a ticket. There will also be live coverage of the main event on screens in the foyer."
