That involves working out all the results for about eight different teams. While I had prepared the papers to do precisely that, they ended up in Malcolm's possession when he made the mistake of asking me how to calculate the tie-break in case he needed to advice a player about whether or not to offer/accept a draw.
I'm still out here, but my match (Denmark v Barbados) finished some time ago. Not sure how they're feeling particularly.

I suppose from both a USA and a Western European perspective, it is good to know Ukraine separates USA and Russia ??

I suspect the results on our bottom 2 boards have ruled-out any board medals sadly?
Sorry for the guys they couldn't end on a high - but still our best showing for some time

Eugenio Torre did play, and ended his 46 year Olympiad career as he had started it - with a win.
10/11 overall - utterly astonishing.

Chessbomb showing England in ninth place on tie-break, behind everyone else on 16 points except Peru. Though I don't entirely trust that set of results as it also shows Brazil in the score group on 16 points (which is wrong - their software falls over when teams are not on the live boards).
(Edit: And fairly obviously, any sort of win in the last round would have secured sole fourth, but c'est la vie.)

He said it was "probably" his last Olympiad IIRC. Hell of a way to go, anyway!

That Mexican IM who had been on 7/7 lost in round 11 and plummeted off the board 2 leaderboard. Went from top down to somewhere very low down. The board gold medals went to Jobava, Kramnik, So and Volokitin.
Adams up to number 18 in the world.
Still, overall it feels like a missed opportunity. When are England ever likely to get the chance to finish as high as fourth again?
Ninth is the best result since 2002 (7th) and the last time we finished fourth was 1996.

As Wales women captain I was very happy that the team finished on 50% with an unexpected 3.5-0.5 last round win against Bolivia who outrated us by an average of 200 points on every board. I was also delighted that the three young debutants, Imogen Camp (15), Shayanna (13) & Venetia (11) Sivarajasingam all scored 50% or better and gained the WCM titles. Hopefully this experience will spur them on to play many more events for Wales. The team finished 4th in their rating category and so just missed out on a medal but they can all be very proud of their result. I should also mention the top two boards Olivia Smith and Lynda Roberts who were good role models for the girls and their experience of many previous Olympiads was invaluable.

With two players badly off form I think it's a tremendous result.
For David, just one of those things, but should we question selecting part-time players for an event like this? It's not as if you can prepare in advance for a known list of opponents, like in the Classic, but if not Luke (or Matthew), who else? When Mickey and Nigel start to slow down, 10th (or =4th) will be many years away.
