Oh, 26...Bb1! (possibility in Howell's game). Threatening ...Rxf3 as well as promotion. Quelle computeresque.

No round-ups from me until Friday, I'm afraid as I'm on a smartphone until then
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Draw for Gawain; David as usual very short of time

I'll be impressed if Mickey gets one, my prediction on that board having been well out

Every time I look David's advantage seems smaller than it did before. Now looks a little like Eljanov's game yesterday.

Still, there are chances left and Adams looks safe enough.

At the time control Adams seems to have exchanged pieces to near equality. Possibilities seem limited in the McShane game and as suggested David's advantage has for the time being perhaps evaporated. So 2-2 is on the cards.

26...Rxe6 27.Rxe6 Qxe6 was also possible and perhaps more human (28.Qxe6 Rae8 followed by Re1)

EDIT: added position and variations

Adams might be lost now, so Howell only drawing might be critical. 2-2 sliding towards a loss now.

[EDIT: No, that was just me failing to understand what was going on on the board... ]

Also, Caruana winning against Mamedyarov. How many rating points will he gain there?!

[EDIT: And now McShane winning!! :D ]

Nah! Gelfand wins the remaining black pawns. But as long as Adams retains his B, White will struggle to convert. Not impossible, but very hard with just a pawn left

Luke has certainly been value for money in this event!

Mickey is drawn now as the g pawn isn't far enough ahead, but Luke seems to be winning suddenly. Not quite sure how.

Rodshtein decided to try and win a completely drawn game and so declined to play either of the drawing moves.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

I'm impressed too, assume Boris didn't play the best moves?

Luke has won to win the match :D
