Yeah, I saw that too. I wonder where they originate.

How are you going to fill your day once Keene finally hangs up his pen?

The pen was hung up years ago.

Ctrl A, Ctrl C & Ctrl V was RDKs main weapon of choice.

Today's 'Spectator' magazine - echo of an era. McShane's column but RDK credited on the contents page.

Meanwhile as the BCM is still, unaccountably, playing host to Ray, Olimpiu offers us this on his notes to Alekhine-Sämisch. I note that chessgames.com, also an old haunt of Ray's, has the apparently incorrect move order. Nice photo, incidentally.

From Ray's final column:
Only one day has gone by in the more than a quarter of a century since then eithout a chess column (a sensational murder blocked out other news that day).
I must have missed that one. What was the "sensational murder"?

Is Ray likely to be sporting a couple of new gold watches, or does Fleet Street have its own special way of bidding people farewell?

Well usually when a columnist leaves after several decades' service there's all kinds of tributes, reminiscences and the like, perhaps they will appear on Monday

I imagine that the reference is to The Black Queen Murder Mystery, which was described on the S&B blog at http://streathambrixtonchess.blogspot.c ... ddler.html.

I seem to recall that the "map of Ireland" was more the shape of Lancashire. The alleged victim was from Lancashire. However, if the accused said he invented the diagrams to confuse people then it doesn't actually matter what it depicts.
