No this was not the same one, this was a young couple who apparently played chess for fun.

There is a way of spotting repeats. Watching Alexander Armstrong's bald spot increase and decrease on Pointless is one method.

From the June issue of The Oldie: "The very things we classical music fans lapped up ... had all the glamour and allure of an advanced level chess lesson to those on the outside."

Feature film 'GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB' before the credits starts with two little sisters playig a chess game with a chessclock and everything. The game went by too quickly to see all the moves. It ends in announcing chckmate.

"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

I don't recall it, but the indications are that it's a repeat from 2009.

Salander plays chess on and off throughout the series, but the best chess scene is in the book from which this film is adapted. She wants to meet a certain man in order to question him over some matter relevant to the plot (her ways of questioning people are another matter) and discovers she might most easily meet him at the local chess club, where he is the best player and occasionally drops in to crush some egos. So they play; she seems to lose her queen quite quickly and the guy is already thinking about how he might later show her where she went wrong, impress and then sleep with her. But she has compensation! It was an intuitive sac and she later wins.

What a heroine!

It occurred to me that there's a shortage of new TV programmes. This was prompted by the repeat of the Keene/King programme from 11 years ago. Perhaps it's an opportunity for a revival of the Master Game format. This time though, rather than fake the thinking process, the players could record their thoughts as they were making them. Like Banter Blitz only edited for a more general audience.
