Hence, the waiting room is full if you are trying to do it efficiently

That's no longer possible as you have to socially distance the patients

Result is fewer patients per hour and therefore it takes longer to get everyone done

The other issue is having enough fridges assuming the vaccine needs to be kept within a certain temperature range

Re flu vaccine for over 50s - that is the case but providers are generally prioritising the more elderly and those with underlying health conditions. There may be some delay in rolling down depending on supply.

Only if there's any vaccine left. I received a text at the end of August saying

"Patients aged between 50 and 64 by the end of March 2021, and NOT in a clinical at risk group, the earliest you will be offered a flu vaccination is November, providing there is sufficient vaccine. No appointments will be offered for people in this age group until then. This is to ensure"

and it ends there mid-sentence.

Private hospitals and Boots running out in London. I am due on 9th Oct. At risk group and always 2nd lot at same time as my nurses NHS. I am working. It has been 10 years since I WAS sick flue 11 days.

Not normal season - I would have lost to at least 3 flueey chess players by now.

As the GP practices weren't informed about the extension down to 50 they hadn't ordered any vaccine and don't have any to give

Guardian explains the position now according to the Royal College of GPs

GP surgeries are waiting up to a month for supplies of this winter’s flu vaccine amid unprecedented numbers of patients seeking jabs ahead of the second wave of Covid-19, family doctors have said.

The Royal College of GPs (RCPG) has written to the health secretary, Matt Hancock, seeking assurances that they will have enough doses of the vaccine to cope with demand. The struggle to get jabs has prompted fears that vulnerable groups, including elderly people and those with underlying conditions, will go unprotected.
