Anyone else got the feeling this conversation has gone as far as it's going to?

If you are not dyslexic then you have no even pretence of an excuse for the rambling incomprehensible gibberish you have produced. Learn how to write English so people don't have to guess what arguments you are trying to make, and then come back later.

Well your calling him a league wrecker, one presumes because his team is monster strong because he pays players.

Your team pay players(presuming you play for ath still)

I am saying your team have no right to claim that given you do the same just not as well.

You say that like a bad thing, which is quite frankly shocking...

It would be a sad state of affairs if a Cambridge student could be identified simply by an ability to write comprehensible English. Don't go betting on any horses if you have any faith in your "suspicion" though!

Actually, Richard is a Warwick graduate. Not that I see what possible relevance this could have.

Ben,

I believe Mark Johnstone is paying Simon Williams, well fine, it's hardly league wrecking.

The London League website is hardly inspirational, it doesn't even include the results from before 6 years ago, although they used to be there, probably because the technology to include a 2nd column defeats the LL technowizards. I believe the software used to derive it was regurgitated by someone else; it's so crap, it can only do the pairings alphabetically each year, so you end up with the same pairings year on year.

As for BS, even the DK's has a least one player now who had been with Wood Green for decades, but eventually gave it up as a bad joke; as a 2350+ player he was playing regularly on boards 8, 9 or 10 or even 11. I know a King's Head 2300 player who more or less refuses to play the LL because he finds the BS/WG antics a farce.

I suppose I should tell you my experience of running a team in the National Club. Entered Athenaeum, because the BCF put out a plea asking clubs to support it. 9 teams entered. Got a team together for the first round away match to Maidstone, exchanged team lists with Cliff Chandler. Poor fellow was beside himself, he had had Neil MacDonald playing for the previous 15 years or so, as he's Kentish anyway. This particular year, no, as Brian Smith had paid him to play for WG instead. We beat Maidstone, who dropped their entry the next year and never re-entered the competition. Next round we had WG, turned up, decent club players, that's all; BS doing his usual grinning (should really have a grimy macintosh with a grin like that). Jonathan Levitt on board 3, for Pete's sake. Massacre. Next year, 5 teams entered and we ended up paired with Hen and Chickens (nice pub, but Welsh Valleys are a long way) in the first round, can't blame BS for that, but Athenaeum won't enter after that farce.

It's a bit pointless really and it does wreck leagues, as it renders them uncompetitive. 4NCL - fine - it's national and so some other loons can compete. European - ditto. London League - it does actually annoy a lot of players. Eastman Cup - you are joking me, aren't you?
