Chess.com - Mouseslips

Interestingly, in the last couple of weeks, I have lost a few games (5 + 5 second increments) on this site where I have made what looks like a mouseslip. You might think that it's a sign of old age or inebriation or both, but they don't feel right to me. Just now, I played what I thought was 0-0 and the King stopped on F8. I have also had two games, within half an hour, where I was in the process of playing a winning rook move to the eighth rank and the rook stopped on the 7th and my opponent took it. Maybe it is me and maybe they are mouseslips but I just wonder if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks John. Perhaps I am being dense but why would that make any difference to my bog standard Hewlett-Packard laptop.

I don't use chess.com but it's not unheard of for lichess to experience possibly similar glitches. I had one the other day where it simply wouldn't recognise when I touched a square and so I couldn't move (this was on the Android app, while the web version was perfectly OK) and another some time ago where the score suddenly omitted a move, attributing white moves to black and vice versa, and moving became similarly impossible (so I lost a game on time where I was +5). On lichess it is possible to report such incidences on a forum: what you do on chess.com I wouldn't know.

Employing a grandmaster, deceased or otherwise, is a violation of the rules.

I find chess.com less forgiving to mouseslips then lichess - at times it feels like it almost drags the piece out of your control and plants it onto a wrong square, whereas on lichess you have to be close to deliberately letting the piece go before you get a misclick. Also lichess players tend to be a bit less obnoxious about refusing takebacks oh genuine mistakes then chess.com where they will not only refuse but also likely start bragging about how great of a player they were after they beat you.

I think moving the pieces by 'drag & drop' is likely to be prone to this kind of thing. Better to simply click source and destination squares (in that order!)

Indeed: this is what I was alluding to earlier when I wrote about gaming keyboards, mice and other peripherals.
