A few hours ago I saw this film was a freebie on PRIME. I recalled this thread so I settled down to watch it.

There is chess in it. 4:15 minutes in, the character called Turner(!) played by Jonathan Hyde
is playing online chess. He is Black here in what is possibly a composed position.

Turner plays Qh4 saying: "Bobby Fischer would be proud of that move, you got no way out now pal"
(I think Bobby would have played Nxg4+) a minute later White plays Nh6 checkmate.

There is notation on the screen but it seems to bear no relation to the game being played.
It has white playing 5. g4 then 7. h4 and 8. h5 .

After stopping, rewinding and pausing I never got around to watching the rest of it.
(I might scoot through it to the credits to see if a chess advisor is mentioned.)

Worth a watch, in my opinion. Nowhere near as good as the book, but I usually say that.

It's always best to watch the film first and then read the book later - that way you always get a little bit more then a little bit less (apart from rare cases like lord of the rings where the films are clearly superior)

I read Jaws and Jurassic Park after seeing the film. (Jaws the book is not very good IMO).

Back on topic. Chess. We always read a World Championship book after the event (obviously).
But how about a spoof book written just after the candidates and long before the next World Championship.
