Live games from the 29th July starting at 15.00 local time - which, if I have worked it out correctly, is 10.30 UK time.

That's what I made it.

A perhaps useful trick is that if you have an analogue watch, you can convert Indian time to GMT by inverting the watch, so 12 is where 6 was and vice versa, then pretend the 12 is at the top and 6 at the bottom. So 1500 converts to 0930, then add an hour as we're in BST!

Or use google...

Unfortunately for us watching at home, the last round (8 August) starts 0530 BST.

On another point, in a previous Women's Olympiad there was a game won by White after illegally castling queenside.
An Events window should have popped up in the DGT Livechess program warning of an illegal move but either these warnings were not being monitored by the arbiters managing the live boards or else they had no way to contact the match arbiter in a timely manner.

Will this situation be rectified in Chennai?

Mind you, the match arbiter only had four games to observe so what were they doing?

Indeed so.

For those watching in St Louis, that round starts at 2330 CDT and the earlier rounds start at 0430 CDT.

However, I expect that most people will cope.

Just as unfortunate for those playing.

Good luck Nick, if you are not playing Ireland. I think you have missed our team by one and will play Faeroe Islands?

Thanks, Tim.

It is far too early to speculate on first round pairings. As of last night, less than half of the teams were shown as having arrived.

Our final player got here a few hours ago after an unexpected, but apparently not unpleasant, day in Abu Dhabi.

The BBC has an article focusing in the Indian teams at the Olympiad:-

There are 4 teams in the pairing list for the Open without opponents. They include Pakistan. Why can't these teams be paired?

One possible reason is that the teams haven't confirmed their arrival yet.
