Digital Clock Repairs
With apologies if someone has already posted this and I cannot see it does anyone know anyone who can repair (or try to repair) digital clocks. We have a number which turn on but then something does not work, usually one (or more) of the buttons. Batteries have been replaced and the clocks have been cleaned with no success.

See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11707, but, from a quick skim through it, I don't think anyone answered the original questions.Peter Ackley wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:13 pmWith apologies if someone has already posted this and I cannot see it does anyone know anyone who can repair (or try to repair) digital clocks. Re: Digital Clock Repairs
I have taught myself how to repair most faults on the DGT 2010.
The most common faults are:
Any of the microswitches on the printed circuit board (PCB)
The reed switch which switches from Player A to Player B (i.e. the paddle mechanism)
Faults with the battery holder.
Also, I have a stock of parts which most frequently require replacement and have good comms with DGT themselves.
Let me know if I can help.

Re: Digital Clock Repairs
Last night I received another 16 DGT 2010s for repair from Berkshire Junior Chess Association.
Most have microswitch problems.

Re: Digital Clock Repairs
John,
Are you able to repair other DGT clocks, such as the Easy Plus, the 3000 or the 2500?
Do you have circuit diagrams or service manuals for various DGT clocks?
Or could you put together a short guide for the rest of use, who would be happy to attempt repairs, but don't have much of clue where to start?

I have repaired more than 30 DGT 2010s and a few DGT 2000s and no others.Paul McKeown wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 4:50 pmJohn,

I have a supply of parts obtained directly from DGT for the 2010s.
All of the rest is in my head and worked out for myself having DPhil Physics electronics knowledge having built experiments during my time at The University of Sussex.
Happy to repair others 2010s if required: I'll attempt a quotation.
I can attempt other models and if parts are required order them from DGT.

Re: Digital Clock Repairs
The supply of spare parts from DGT for the 2010 model has dried up and there will be no more.
Most faults arise from the micro switches mounted on the main PCB going intermittent.
Occasionally the reed switch which notes the paddle position fails.
Some people have broken the battery mounting spring through rough handling.
All I can do now is attempt to cobble together a working 2010 from the remains of faulty 2010s.
Thanks for the enquiries and I was pleased to help where I could.
