English Chess Federation Membership Requirement for FIDE events - if you are ENGLISH (ENG) with FIDE then you MUST BE A Gold or Platinum member to play. No membership obligation for non-ENG registered players. In the U1400 you must be an ECF Gold or Platinum member.

Open to All / Major Under 1900 [FIDE and ECF] / Minor Under 1700 [FIDE and ECF] / Amateur ECF Under 1400

Four sections - tournaments of five rounds with 2 half point byes available

One round on Friday 25th (7.00pm to a possible 11pm finish)
Two rounds on Saturday 26th (10.30am & 3.30pm)
Two on Sunday 27th (10.30am & 3.30pm)

Players in the Open section may have any rating for either their FIDE or ECF. This is the top section. Grandmasters and International Masters register for free entry (must be ECF Gold members if English).

- Players in the Major section must be Under 1900 in the FIDE and the ECF standard rating list at the start of the event.

- Players in the Minor section must be Under 1700 in the FIDE and the ECF standard rating list at the start of the event.

- Players in the Amateur ECF Under 1400 must be Under 1400 in the ECF standard rating list at the start of the event. This section is rated by the ECF but not FIDE. In the U1400 you must be an ECF Gold or Platinum member.

It doesn't seem that the entry for this tournament matches the popularity of the long established and locally organised tournament a few weeks later. That's particularly the case for the lower rating restricted sections.

This is true, but a few players have said that they might be interested in a rapid event on that weekend, so we may add this as an option! I thought being half term we might capture a few more kids.
