As my own performance is nothing to boast about I am mentioning this tournament just before today's last round at 11 a.m..
I am enjoying my stay at the venue, the Holiday Inn at Kenilworth. It is conveniently in the town centre right by varied shops and eating houses. I prefer this to an isolated site near a motorway junction. I played in the very first English Seniors in 2008, organised in the Peak District by Neil Graham. it was won by Andrew Whiteley and the first prize was £1000, thanks to some mystery donor, I believe. Today it's £500. The tournament has missed some years but now thankfully seems to be firmly established.

Re: English Seniors Championships 2025
An obvious question in the Over 50s is why 2 players got 1 point byes in round 2?

Re: English Seniors Championships 2025
Byron-Hebden was published in the pairings but Byron was due a HPB that round. His non appearance led to his opponent getting a win by default whilst Alan was belatedly given his HPB. Ironically they then played in round 5. The other full point bye was due to there being an odd number in the pairings.Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 12:26 pmAn obvious question in the Over 50s is why 2 players got 1 point byes in round 2?
