BritBase (No Longer) Down - BACK UP AGAIN
BritBase is currently down. Access to any of its pages produces the message...
Misdirected Request
The client needs a new connection for this request as the requested host name does not match the Server Name Indication (SNI) in use for this connection.
I've had a look to see if it is something I can fix (all the SSL certificates are up to date) but my feeling is it is at the ISP (Zen Internet) end, or else some new security implementation. The ISP's system status page mentions a partial outage but I'm not sure whether this is the reason.
If someone with a better grasp of the technology can advise, I would appreciate hearing from them.
EDIT: BACK UP AGAIN AS OF 13:20

Re: BritBase Currently Down
Might be a possible recent Apache update that requires a Plesk fix but contact Zen especially if your access is Plesk.

OK, thx, Carl. I'm currently waiting for a live chat with a techie. I'll mention this.Carl Hibbard wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 9:37 amMight be a possible recent Apache update that requires a Plesk fix but contact Zen especially if your access is Plesk.

Re: BritBase Currently Down
Look in the Plesk logs but only "if" that is your access method:
Plesk > Domains > example.com > Logs
Plesk > Domains > example.com > Logs

Re: BritBase Currently Down
The live chat session didn't answer any questions. I was given a bland response along the lines that "it is being looked into by the engineers." Given that their web hosting team don't work weekends, I suspect that it will be Monday before anything is done about it.

I would check the logs and PM me the error message if you want but yes Monday is a rather typical response.John Saunders wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 10:16 amThe live chat session didn't answer any questions. Re: BritBase (No Longer) - BACK UP AGAIN
Hurrah! BritBase is back up again as of 13:20 today - I retract my previous pessimistic estimate of when this would happen.

Re: BritBase (No Longer) Down - BACK UP AGAIN
This explanation was received last night:
Hi there,
We want to make you aware of a service issue that may have affected your website over the weekend.
An unexpected Apache update, released globally and outside of our control, caused a misconfiguration issue. This resulted in some websites displaying a generic Zen holding page or presenting with a browser security warning on our servers.
Our team implemented an initial fix on Saturday to mitigate the issue. Unfortunately, while this provided some temporary relief, the problem continued. Since then, our infrastructure team has worked diligently to identify a permanent solution. We’re pleased to confirm that this fix has now been successfully tested on one of our servers and is currently being rolled out across all platforms.
We sincerely apologise for any disruption this may have caused and truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to fully resolve the issue.
You can follow the latest updates on our service alerts page - https://servicealerts.zen.co.uk/alert/9798/ , where we will post ongoing progress and notify you once the issue is fully resolved.
If, after the service alert has been marked as resolved, you continue to experience any issues, it’s important that you let us know as soon as possible so we can investigate further.
Thank you once again for your patience and support.
We have lots of handy guides available on our website relating to set up, additional features and diagnostics: https://www.zen.co.uk/help-support/hosting
If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact us by live chat: https://www.zen
