Best jokes at Edinburgh
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-11053202 gives the best jokes from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, although they only saw a small percentage of the shows. Apparently, one of the worst jokes (according to the judges) was "I like to play chess with bald men in the park although it's hard to find 32 of them." (Emo Phillips)
I find the judgement harsh.

The ECF board would be a reasonable place to startKevin Thurlow wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-11053202 gives the best jokes from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, although they only saw a small percentage of the shows. Because he was a rabbit?Michael Bennett wrote:So...forum-dwellers...why did the chess player cross the road?
To avoid the fork?
To deliver a cross-check?
To get to the outpost?
Because he was playing Cross Chess?

Re: Best jokes at Edinburgh
Back in 1993 when the Short-Kasparov match was in the news, I saw a comic that said that chess was usually a silent game, and then gave his impression of what it would sound like if the Reverend Ian Paisley was commenting on a chess game.
During the British Championships in Canterbury, I saw a couple of Edinburgh preview acts at the Gulbenkian theatre which was on the main campus of the University. One of the comics (whose name I have forgotten), observed that he had been given a chess set where the rules stated there were 16 white pieces and 16 coloured pieces (not black), and he said that was political correctness gone mad. He then went on the describe a chess game in the style of a journalist reporting a race riot. This included an interview with a black bishop and lots of bad jokes including 'We have got a stalemate situation here'.
