I have Jonathan for Akehurst. Otherwise I agree with the other names.

I stick with James. He had a twin brother and came from Durham/Northumberland, so Paul Bielby could confirm.

Leonard is right. James and Robert both gave me some trouble in the early 1980s ... Robert beat me in the second round of the u-11 in 1983, when I was supposed to be the favourite for the title, and I lost to James in the last round of the British u-12 at Brighton 1984.

Alfred W J Down birth registered in Greater London Q4 1915 - I would guess this is your man.

There's also Arthur W J Down birth registered in Clutton, Somerset Q3 1919, but he'd be too young.

My memory says Neale. BMD gives Neale D Walford Q1 1964 Basford Notts. Yay!!
