I'm looking for some information about federation changes for titled players from the British Isles. For the following questions, the years in brackets are what I've narrowed it down to so far:
1) The year that Arakhamia/Arakhamia-Grant switched from GEO to SCO (2001 to 2009)
2) The year that Jana Malypetrova/Hartston/Miles/Bellin switched from CSR to ENG (1970 to 1972)
3) The year that Murray Chandler switched from ENG to NZL (2006 to 2010)
4) The year that Tony Kosten switched from ENG to FRA (2001 to 2010)
5) The year that Bogdan Lalic switched from ENG to CRO (2001 to 2010)
6) Whether Simon Webb switched from ENG to SWE at some point (2001 to 2005)
7) The year Jacob Aagaard switched from DEN to SCO (2001 to 2010)
For the period 1971 to 2001, it is possible to use the Olimpbase archive of FIDE rating lists to identify the year in which a federation registration change took place:
http://www.olimpbase.org/Elo/players.html
But for players in the pre-rating list era (before 1971) and after 2001, it is more difficult to identify when such a change took place. If anyone knows of archives for the FIDE ratings lists from 2001 onwards, I'd be very grateful.
If anyone wants to debate further examples of those switching federations, the following is a (non-comprehensive) list of titled players (GM, IM, WGM, WIM) who were registered for ENG (or SCO or IRL or WLS) at some point, but either switched to a different federation, or had been registered with another federation earlier.
* Jana Malypetrova/Hartston/Miles/Bellin switched from CSR to ENG
* Murray G. Chandler switched from NZL to ENG to NZL
* Gulnar(a) Sakhatova/Sachs switched from KAZ to ENG
* Bogdan Lalic switched from CRO to ENG to CRO
* Ketevan Arakhamia/Arakhamia-Grant switched from GEO to SCO
* Aleksandar/Alexander Baburin switched from RUS to IRL
* Rita Zimmersmann/Hennigan/Atkins switched from HUN to ENG
* Dagne Ciuksyte switched from LTU to ENG
* Demetrios Agnos/Dimitri Anagnostopoulos switched from ENG to GRE
* George S. Botterill switched from ENG to WLS
* Joe Gallagher switched from ENG to SUI
* Tony Kosten switched from ENG to FRA
* Gary Lane switched from ENG to CAN to AUS
* Simon Webb possibly switched from ENG to SWE
* David H. Cummings switched from ENG to WLS to CAN
* Ingrid Lauterbach switched from GER to ENG
* Jacob Aagaard switched from DEN to SCO
* James Cobb switched from ENG to WLS
* Michael Rahal switched from ESP to ENG
There will be many other examples, for example Meri Grigoryan is not on the above list because the above list is only WIM and above. But even the above list may not be complete. If anyone knows of any other players at WIM or IM and above, who switched to or from British Isles federations (ENG, SCO, IRL, WLS), please let me know. In particular, some of the history of people switching to or from Jersey and Guernsey (even though they don't have players with IM or WIM titles or above) might be of interest, and I've yet to find examples of switches between ENG and SCO or between ENG and IRL.
There is also the case of those that changed country prior to the establishment of the FIDE rating lists. I presume players still had to be registered in the Olympiads as playing for a particular country. If that is so, I'd be particularly interested in the country registrations (and years when registered) for the following, whether they played for England in team events, and whether they switched countries or not (both in terms of citizenship and in terms of FIDE registration - FIDE was founded in 1924):
* Jacques Mieses
* Conel Hugh O'Donel Alexander
* Henry Ernest Atkins
* Cenek Kottnauer
* George Alan Thomas
* Robert Graham Wade
* William Winter
* Eileen Betsy Tranmer
* William Albert Fairhurst
* Imre Koenig
* Rowena Mary Bruce
* Stefan Fazekas
That latter list is those from or living in England, who were awarded titles in the 1950-1953 period.

Thanks for that (and the answers) and I feel silly for not realising that resource was there!Howard Grist wrote:You can see al ist of all players who have transferred FIDE federation since 2001 on the FIDE web site: http://ratings.fide.com/fedchange.phtml
Any idea how I could confirm "The year that Jana Malypetrova/Hartston/Miles/Bellin switched from CSR to ENG (1970 to 1972)"? Ideally using actual documents or historical records, rather than asking those around at the time (though that would do if necessary). Also, I couldn't find Tony Kosten's transfer listed under 2002, so maybe the FIDE website doesn't include all the transfers that took place?
Looking through that link you supplied, I see that the titled players (where I'm only looking at IM and WIM and above) that transferred into or out of ENG, SCO, IRL or WLS for the period from 2000 onwards, in addition to the ones listed above and elsewhere, were Anya Corke (HKG to ENG in 2009) and Jacob Aagaard (SCO to DEN in 2009). Those two changes will also require me to update the notes I have. It is also possible to load the 2010 transfer list (though it is not yet linked from the menu page), but no transfers there yet that are relevant to the questions I was asking.
I wasn't actually aware that Jacob Aagaard had transferred back to DEN, but the thing I noticed was the eye-watering transfer fee of 3200 Euros!
Dare I ask how these fees are calculated?

It's supposedly all on that page I directed you to in the other thread (http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.html? ... w=category), though I don't know how they come up with a figure of 3200 euros for Aagaard.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: I wasn't actually aware that Jacob Aagaard had transferred back to DEN, but the thing I noticed was the eye-watering transfer fee of 3200 Euros!
