LCC - the games!

Post by Jonathan Rogers » Wed Dec 08, 2010 2:21 pm

I thought that a separate thread on the games may be of interest.

Howell is clearly trying to maintain his unbeaten record in LCC, and nothing more, at least not today ...

I haven't seen Luke play 1 c4 before

Short is copying Luke's anti-Petroff strategy (2.Bc4) against Kramnik, but will it be much more effective? I can't see Big Vlad worrying too much about 3 Qe2. White can play it, of course (hey, even 2 Nf3 Qe7 can be played) - but even so, why play it?!

Finally, Naka plays homage to a great English chess player - myself, of course (I was the first player to play 9...Bd7 in that line of the Berlin in international competition, Senec 1998) 8)

It seems not. But at the last look, I should think that if Howell has to exchange bishops (move 16) then he must be in trouble. And generally, you might add, when Adams chooses - chooses - not to defend a pawn, there is bound to be some substance in his compensation .... and I wonder whether we are about to understand his choice (the rook which went to e3, dropping the b2 pawn, can now go to f3)

I prefer Luke's position to Carlsen's. THERE, I've said it!

Howell looks to be in trouble.

And Nakamura seems to have something of a bad bishop.

I suppose Anand intends Bg5-h4, and then Bg3.

Watching Mcshane batter Carlsen really is making my evening shift fly by

I think you're right. I didn't see at first a clear continuation after 25 c5 Be6 (Black must stop Qb3+) but thinking about it calmly, 26 Rdb1, threatening Rb7, would be very troubling for Black....!

Adams to play and pick his favourite win. Could he even play Nxh7?! He only needs one knight on g5 and a queen on h3 or h5 ......

Yeah Jonathan , what makes it worst is these are sort of positions where Luke is as good as it gets almost.

I predict a monster upset.

Adams, Anand, Mcshane and Kramnik to win is my prediction in running

Because he has huge centre, and also hes a legend and playing a muppet. So Allez Kramnik!

I am sure carlsen will find a swindle - he is too good to just lose without a fight.
