The contestant's name is Mark Hannon and his specialist subject is "Bobby Fischer - Life and Career".

Mark is a Welsh player, of around 2000 (175) strength. See also http://www.tenby-today.co.uk/tn/news.cfm?id=22333

Oh maybe even this...although as I write, it's not working.....

Good luck to Mark (if it's not taken place already - is it recorded or live?). Hope his performance is better than mine on Fifteen-to-One years ago. I got both my questions wrong and had to sit down.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Or mine on Eggheads. Although Heather Lang did manage to knock out Judith on the sport round.

We were not. I was the only chess player on my team; the rest of my team were my mother and her art friends.

There is an episode featuring a team from Camberley Chess Club of

Ken & Christine Coates, Julien Shepley, Paul Sloane and Steve Harely. :D

The EHs won the final round on the third tie break which was edited out.
