surely after Na5 Nxa5 bxa5, Kamsky could have palyed Bxf7+, or arranged some sort of proper attack?! (inserting cxd4 first, so his rook could swing over the third rank would also have made a great difference, it seems to me).

Yes 2-2. Obviously drawing with white at this level isn't as easy as I thought. Maybe a mainline Sicilian isn't the safest choice.

well, I think White must have had all sorts of opportunities after Nxa5, so it's more generally a botch-up which could happen regardless of colour (although in this event, apparently only with White ...)

Indeed so, obviously. As most readers of the Forum will know, you put the Kings on e4 and d5 for a White win, d4 and e5 for a Black win and e4 and e5 for a draw.

Tension and fatigue affects arbiters as well as players. It's all too easy to have a momentary aberration and put the Kings temporarily on the wrong squares.

The computer then records the wrong result and the operator has to correct it.
