The reason I didn't give the International Director a wild card right was because, when I started this rule, I was both International Director and Manager of the Championships, which came under me. Thus I did not give myself the right to two nominations.
They were used when I was in charge.

I was wondering why doing well in the British Rapidplay Championships qualifies one for a place in the slowplay championships? It seems slightly illogical to me.

I only just noticed this post. It is slightly illogical. But the British Rapidplay Championship is such a major event, that I decided it deserved one when I was in charge of these matters.

Rapidplay isn't totally irrelevent, given that it made the difference between being just Joint English Champion, and Being both Joint English Champion AND British Champion to me a few years ago

I'd say it would take more chess skill to perform well in the Rapidplay than some of the Opens which give Championship slots...

I'm not sure, at quick time limits a player who is a good tactician might be able to swindle and bluff their way to the title. You know, the type of chancer that plays the Kings Gambit and Grand Prix Attack, but thinks endings are dull, etc.

I'll check out this Arkell guy in MegaBase and see if it supports my theory...
