Three all-GM clashes already (Conquest-Jones; Adams-Gormally; Summerscale-Short) - anyone care to predict the results there? Two non-titled players still on 100% (Sreeves and Atako). Two GMs only on 1/2 (Hebden, Williams) and one on 0.5/2 (N. Pert).LozCooper wrote:Round 3 pairings now up: http://www.britishchess2011.com/events_ ... p_2011.htm

Clement is a very hard working and knowledgable player and I am surprised that he is not much higher rated. I suspect a combination of time trouble and nerves gets him at crucial moments. If he can get over this, and recent evidence suggests he can, then he is a very dangerous opponent.

Re: BRITISH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS - THE GAMES
Susan Lalic is playing well and an interesting cute tactic she played v Hebden 24. BxH7+ if King takes then Rook takes the black bishop which wins a pawn and Hebden bailed out with kf8. I was wondering if the taking the Bishop with the king would work followed by the pawn on C2 with the rook but it looks dodge as the black f pawns drop, the black king looks somewhat exposed and the black centre pawns I think struggle to compensate. Nice little winning tactic by Susan.

Re: BRITISH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS - THE GAMES
Hi Andrew
May I just say I really enjoyed the livestream yesterday. ( http://www.livestream.com/leylandchess at 2.15 London time onwards ) It was so much better Audio quality than last year. I recommended it on my Facebook pages, and at one point there were like 200 viewers on your livestream. I don't know what it was the day before, but I thought that was quite impressive.
I hope you don't mind but I referenced the livestream in one of my videos just done this morning. You and Ravi did really addictive commentary to follow.
BTW Chessgames.com have a British Champ 2011 page, and I mentioned your video there earlier for the Game of the Day Round 1 :

Many thanks. Very instructive. Easy to digest with tea and toast. Keep them coming.

Re: BRITISH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS - THE GAMES
Rather boringly I can't see past Adams to win the title outright. He's just a class or a couple of classes above most of the field.
Short I can see dropping a game one to one of the up and coming GMs or even Hawkins.

The top seed of a tournament with this many entries fails more often than than not to win it. Adams was in brilliant form last year, but this year I think someone else will win the title.
