Sorry, John and Justin, but I don't believe a word of it. I know White has the extra pawn in Hebden - Summerscale, but Black has the Bishop and play is on both sides of the board and he has the better centralised king. Black has sufficient compensation, although I feel 42... Ke5 might have been better than 42... Bb5. [but then again Summerscale is a grandmaster and I'm a club player.]

Good point. I had guessed Kd4 which loses the e pawn to Nf5+. Tactics..

I doubt Nigel wanted this - no passed pawn and a bit of work to do. Walk the King in on the White squares - remind self not to state the bleeding obvious.

I think Short's making rapid progress; it looks like Jones has to choose between 40... f4 and 40. ... h5 neither looking very good. I guess h4 is coming soon.
