And by turning up late. I remember when I was Wellsy playing at the British Championships in Eastbourne in 1990 and in particular getting in to very bad time trouble against Julian Hodgson in one round.

I remember Howell v Wells (or maybe Wells v Howell?) in Torquay 2009, when he arrived late and ended up losing on time in a time scramble. That was the last Championship without an incremental time control.

Maybe 16. Qxd4 Ba6 and White's king is stuck in the centre for a while.
