So Short has chosen another Miles favourite!

A little bit, but c4 and nh4 not a mainline. The most interesting game I found was Salo Flohr hacking with black!

one of the GM games saw Rogers go nb6 instead of qc7. But disappointingly, Ian Rogers

I prefer Black here (maybe 17...exd5?).

No idea it was a Miles favourite- and I used to play it! Shows how good my opening preparation is! To be fair is was pre-chessbase days. 6 games in my database- first game he beat Karpov in Master game, then lost to Hort, drew with De Firmian, Karpov got revenge and he also lost to Unzicker. All between 1983-85. Then unsurprisingly gave up bar one win in 1999 against a 2455.

Theory to an extent is just what other people have played rather than some definitive assessment of the best move. Rather suspect this strongly applies in this opening.

@IM_MPein_chess 18.b4! ouch White clearly better its a pawn storm - looks grim for NIgel 18...exd5 19.Qf3 perhaps the h rook shd have gone to e8

I would expect Adams to wrap this one up now

Well, I wouldn't have played Nd7, but yeah, Qf3 after exd5. And now (21...Kb8) looks good for Mickey, but there may be complications ahead yet, especially at this time control.

23.c6! Ouch!

So what would have happened after 23...bxc6? Would it be 24.Rdc4?

24. Qb2 looks pretty deadly to me.
