OK, where is the announcement?
I think it's fair to say that I have become utterly exasperated by the silence.

Now Monday afternoon, the Board meeting was Saturday, so are discussions still taking place this morning which are delaying the 'press release'.Sean Hewitt wrote:Erm...it's still Monday.andrew martin wrote:OK, where is the announcement?

I wonder at what point in time does David feel is his obligation, to wait for the ECF announcement, lapse.David Sedgwick wrote:That is fair enough, thanks anywayCarl Hibbard wrote:As I was representing the SCCU, I feel that I should report there first.David Sedgwick wrote: I shall be attending as the SCCU observer.
David, people would welcome at least a "key points" review of the meeting if you are back online over the weekend
Chris Majer undertook to issue a statement about the Chess for Schools Project on Monday. In the light of this assurance I agreed to defer publication of my report until then.
I understand that people are frustrated by the lack of news. However, we've all been waiting for so long that another 48 hours won't make very much difference.

I wouldn't presume to speak for DS or anyone else. But if it were me, and i had agreed to defer something subject to a statement being made on Monday, I would feel released from that promise on Tuesday.Peter Turner wrote: I wonder at what point in time does David feel is his obligation, to wait for the ECF announcement, lapse.

Let's be realistic about the situation. CM has told DS he will make a statement on Monday. It would be reasonable to expect CM to consult Holloid early on Monday to agree the content of the statement, and to release the statement subsequent to that agreement. CM also has the small matter of his own full time employment to deal with. I would therefore expect the statement to be published in the late afternoon or early evening.

Sean
Your are probably correct in your analysis but the point I tried to make was that a statement to that effect on the ECXF home page would be a smart thing to do.
On a separate matter, please consider changing the footnote to your postings I think it has more than served it's purpose.
Regards

Andrew,
If you feel exasperated now, I shudder to think what you'll feel when you see the announcement ...
Best,
Peter

The worse outcome possible would be no (or very few..) free sets with Holloid seeking to either sell the sets or worse still seek JRT funding for the project
Anyway I will stop guessing now

I think this project is already a failure.
The way they don't update their website and then keep it a secret is so amateur. I am a lazy student and I get off my arse more than this.

I asked Sophie at the office what time the news would be released and she replied "I believe it will be late afternoon".

ECF Website says
Chess For Schools
I apologise for my failure to put out the promised statement.
Chris Majer
ECF Chief Executive
Well I do know a few people who can put out a statement on his behalf !!!

Is it possible to get a statement from Chris on the forum? If only to explain what is the problem. I believe Chris would have put out a statement if at all possible.

For whatever reason Chris has failed to live up to his side of the bargain, now David Sedgwick can give his report on the meeting.
