Including variations in the PGN feature

Does anyone know how to include variations in the PGN feature? At the moment, the PGN I am trying to format to work within pgn tags here allows the main line to be played through, but not the variations.

Unfortunately, you can't play through variations.

You might have noticed by now that the latest chessboard software lets you play through variations.
