Re: Ilford Congress
This is a very predicatble thread, as a further year on and we are fast approaching the 2009 Ilford Congress over the late May Bank holiday weekend of 23/25 May, still at the same venue of the Redbridge Avenue in Gaysham Avenue near Gants Hill Station. This is the Diamond Jubilee event, as the first Congress was held in May 1950 under the auspices of Ilford Chess Club to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary, and the event was taken over by the Essex Chess Association the following year.
