As for Lasker v Janowski, I didn't know previously that Hooper/Whyld considered *both* matches non-WC - nor, as I said, does that seem to be the more general view. Indeed, from what I recall (maybe imperfectly, as ever) our friend E G Winter has taken several writers to task for considering *both* L v J encounters as world title matches, but seems to accept the bona fides of one of them in that regard.
