I think England Open are looking OK on all four boards so far, early days yet though. I slightly worry for Adams though, White's play seems quite easy to me.

Anya Corke just lost. England's women are in for a tough day today against Armenia. Corke-Danielan reminds me a lot of Conquest-Hawkins from the last round of 4NCL 2010-11, where Hawkins won inside 20 moves.

generally agreed - at least Nick is OK now.

Elsewhere Kramnik has an interesting position as Black v Leko. Yes. Really. Kramnik seems to have had something of an "interesting chess with Black too" transplant in recent years.

Aronian v Ivanchuk is an important game as well as an interesting one - I won't pretend to assess it (yet).

Kramnik in his early days used to play interesting chess with both colours, then whilst he was challenging for Wch he went all stodgy and quiet and now he has rediscovered some of his aggressive nature from his youth, a bit like Nigel Short I guess.
