Stories one, two and four are all sexual assaults, and statements can be written for all 3, and 3 crimes recorded. I’m sure her local police station will liaise with whoever they need to make sure the crimes are investigated by the correct police forces.
I haven't read Stories 1 and 2, but if as you say, they concern sexual assault, then you are absolutely right. The correct course of action is to go to the nearest police station and make formal statements. The police will handle the matter humanely, provide contact with appropriate support, and pass the matter on to other police forces as necessary and the crown prosecutor.

Different jurisdiction, of course, but the strength of the case against Harvey Weinstein substantially followed from the number of victims who came forward - otherwise it might simply have been one person's word against another. So, if we're talking about serial perpetrators here, one has to hope that news of one report to the police would encourage other victims to follow.

But victims shouldn’t be discouraged by this one word against another. In sexual assault cases a jury or a magistrate will look at the credibility of accounts, and certainly in rape cases evidence from people who were told by the victim afterwards holds real weight. There may not even be a trial. Some may just plead guilty.

All very true although 'beyond reasonable doubt' is a stiff threshold.

I agree with recent posts. I would point out that in 4NCL, many teams stayed in the same hotel, so the individual accused may very well not be a member of the same team. Also, suggesting that individual was part of a small group of people might lead to legal action from all of them (if I understand libel law correctly - it's not my area of expertise.)

No need for that insult- simply saying what's on my mind.

Plenty of other people talk 'drivel' yet I ignore vast majority of it.
Reporting my own post to me does not really bode well for your future here - you can either keep to the point Mark please or you can go away.

It's just too surreal for words.

I kinda get it... I saved all my good ones...

Goal is less drama yet I'm glad my recent writing has brought light to interesting issues.

Thanks Carl.

I am going to listen to what else Sabrina says before commenting much further.

I hope she is not reading the thread. Honestly it seems a bit cruel of people to have brought her attention to it. A discussion between people in positions of varying authority in English chess about what we can and can't do is most likely very different to the support someone coming to terms with trauma needs. But I do think it is important we discuss what we can do, here or elsewhere.

My heart goes out to Sabrina, Jennifer, and all victims out there. You are so courageous and your voices are powerful. These horrifying accounts illustrate how we have a collective duty to ensure chess is a safe space for everyone.

She's posted on this thread so I guess she's reading them.

On this site some of my posts have over 20,000 views- I am happy to donate my time for free to raise awareness.

Sabrina’s latest posts in the last hour or so is she has received a defamation warning letter in relation to story one and two. 48 hours to take down the posts. Possibly some confusion as to the person in story one being different from story two by the solicitors. I’ve giving my posts here a delete/edit. Maybe others should too to save the headache of getting a warning too? I’d guess maybe the advice would be to take the X/Twitter posts down and head to the local police station? But the ball is in Sabrina’s court, and I’m sure she’ll be getting lots of good advice.

But she didn't name anyone. I wonder who has decided that the cap fits them!

That's a shame, it's how the bastards win. If you're worried about the consequences of a post, you should have thought of that when you posted it.

No chance in my case. If you stand by your beliefs, headaches come with the territory.

I’m sure she’ll be getting lots of advice. Some of it may be good.

When I received my first ever threatening legal letter ( I have lost count :D ) I was young and impecunious, the Citizens Advice Bureau helped me to bat it away. If this gets serious, I can think of City lawyers who might be sufficiently outraged to take it on.

This one already has, informally, according to Twitter.
