The engine at the live site was expressing the opinion that 2 and 3 were about level, whilst Sabrina was better with pieces heading towards her opponent's king.John Philpott wrote:Anya has now drawn.

It looks to me as 29.Be6 followed Rd8 will win the game for Sabrina and (quite probably) match

it has been delayed but is still possible - I don't see a defence to 32 Rd8

Scotland men are suffering agaist Belgium. Ireland will presumably soon by 1-1 and this is already guaranteed to be their closest match so far ...

The time controls for this include increments yes?
Nigel Short's opponent Edouard Romain is playing on increment alone now!! And Nigel is a pawn up

I'd assume the 3v2 rook ending is a technical draw. Nigel will presumably ask his opponent to prove it.Greg Breed wrote:The time controls for this include increments yes?

David has a piece for two pawns and there was a draw on top board, so the match is drawn at worst.
They got an extra 30 minutes at move 40.

I've seen Keith win 3v2 a few times, maybe it is just a case of channelling your inner ArkellRoger de Coverly wrote:I'd assume the 3v2 rook ending is a technical draw. Nigel will presumably ask his opponent to prove it.Greg Breed wrote:The time controls for this include increments yes?

Isn't Nigel's ending just a draw - though not much fun to defend against the mighty Nosher. I thought that white was supposed to play g3 and h4 rather then fanny around with his rook. If there are any winning chances, Black has reached something like his optimum position.

It ends as a draw nevertheless, with quite a nice stalemate.John Moore wrote:Isn't Nigel's ending just a draw - though not much fun to defend against the mighty Nosher. Technically, her opponent blundered first with 37.Rbd1, as if Sarah had found 38...Qg4 (as pointed out immediately by the site chess engines), the game would have been won. I wonder if either player saw the full range of back rank combinations possible there?John Philpott wrote:Roger de Coverly wroteUnfortunately, Sarah seems to have blundered on move 39!They got an extra 30 minutes at move 40.

Well the important question for the minute is can David win this!
